Blog pundit/comedian Jim Treacher rattles off three jokes about sexy vegetarians, two of which made me laugh. In 2002, Mark Frauenfelder asked about the PETA award, "What's so sexy about that? I like a girl who uses her exiquisitely pointed canines to tear into the flesh of a tender young rabbit or veal cutlet, and then wipes the blood dripping down her chin with the back of her hand." A man after my own heart. In related news, Veggie Booty Tied To Salmonella. Thursday, June 28, 2007
[Producer Brian] Grazer optioned Hefner's life rights several years ago. The producer's "8 Mile" scribe Scott Silver tried it as a musical, and Oliver Stone developed several drafts. Making a film of Hefner's long life as icon of the sexual revolution has proven difficult, but Ratner and [screenwriter John] Hoffman found a way to do it that pleased Grazer and the 81-year-old Hefner, who approved the take late last week in a meeting at the Playboy Mansion. An Oliver Stone version would have had strong so-bad-it's-good camp potential. I fear the Ratner version will be merely bad and boring. No word yet on casting. Might I suggest Joe Rogan as Hef?
After opening a club at the Palms Resort in Las Vegas in October, Hugh Hefner plans to take on gambling's next frontier with a Macau venue complete with revealingly dressed female "bunny" dealers. The 40,000-square feet (3,600 square meters) Playboy Mansion Macau will feature a pool and grotto, restaurants, several dozen gaming tables and a villa-style hotel, drawing its inspiration from the original Playboy Mansion in the U.S., known worldwide for its glamorous parties. Playboy, which sells clothing at 620 outlets in China and runs boutiques in Bangkok and Tokyo, hopes to capitalize on the brand appeal in Asia and the rosy prospects of the world's biggest gaming market. Macau, located an hour by high-speed ferry west of Hong Kong, has seen its gambling revenue grow rapidly since the government ended a monopoly in 2002, letting in Las Vegas casino brands like the Wynn and Sheldon Adelson's Sands and Venetian. It overtook the Las Vegas Strip in gaming revenue last year. At its height, Playboy ran 22 clubs in cities from Chicago and New York to Tokyo and Manila. The clubs had all closed by 1991, with interest dampened by feminism and proliferation of adult content. Another version of this wire story notes, "While Playboy can sell men's clothing in China, its magazine is officially banned."
An Italian doctor has reconstructed vaginas for two women born with a rare congenital deformation, using their own cells to build vaginal tissue in the lab for the first time. Professor Cinzia Marchese of University Sapienza in Rome says a 28-year-old woman who underwent the first such operation a year ago now has a healthy vagina. The second operation was on a 17-year-old girl. The researchers took cells by biopsy from where her vagina should be and say the cells should grow in the lab to provide mucosal tissue, from which to 'build' a new vagina. The two women have a condition called Mayer-von Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome, or MRKHS for short, which affects an estimated one in 4000 to 5000 female infants. Girls with the syndrome are born with no vagina. They often have a normal uterus, ovaries and external secondary sexual organs such as breasts, but cannot have sexual intercourse or give birth. [...] "What we do is to take a little biopsy of 0.5 centimetres from the place the vagina should be," Marchese says. The researchers then used an enzyme to break down the tissue and let the immature cells, called stem cells, generate new, mucosal tissue on their own. It takes about 15 days to get a thick enough layer to transplant into the patients, Marchese says. Marchese studied using stem cells to build sheets of skin in vitro to provide skin grafts for burn victims at Harvard Medical School with the technique's pioneer Professor Howard Green. "When I came back to Italy I modified this technique for mucosal vagina tissue," she says, adding that its success could be good news for women with cancer and other vaginal complaints. Weird but heartwarming.
Defence lawyers for Kylie Louise Wilson, 28, said the mother of two "lost it" when her friend of six years, Daniel Peter Blair, went on a masturbation marathon on April 6 last year. Brisbane's District Court this morning heard Mr Blair had showed up at Wilson's unit at Birkdale unit, in Redland Shire, where he took amphetamines before having a shower. Whilst in the bathroom, Mr Blair, 32, began pleasuring himself, before moving to Wilson's bedroom, where he rolled around naked on her bed and continued his lewd conduct. He returned to the bathroom for more and was busted by Wilson, who was attempting to bath her three-and-a-half year-old daughter. The court heard Mr Blair refused her repeated requests to stop, prompting her to fetch a knife from the kitchen which she used to stab him twice in the left shoulder. Crown prosecutors said Mr Blair paused only to put on his shorts and flee outside to wait for police to arrive, but was again overcome by the urge. "Despite his injury, it seems (Mr Blair) continued to masturbate while in the garage," the prosecutor said. Drugs are bad, mmmkay? |
