Naked War Protests

During the build-up to the US-led war against Iraq, naked protests and demonstrations became news items. In most cases, groups of women got naked and formed slogans or symbols with their bodies.

Anti-war protesters got naked and spelled the word "peace" in a field in Sussex. (Link snagged from World Sex News.) Same thing happened two months ago in Marin county. Does this mean nude message-spelling is becoming the new "what do we want? ... when do we want it? ..."? (Jan 2003)

2, 4, 6, 8, another naked anti-war protest: 22 naked men form a peace sign on a hillside near Gainsville, Florida. (Jan 2003)

Another nude anti-war protest in a Marin county pasture. (Jan 2003)

Another nude anti-war protest, this time involving several hundred Australian women. (Just for the record, Daze Reader will happily link to nude pro-war demonstrations if someone comes across one.) (Feb 2003)

What happens when nude protesters get arrested? Eros Blog has the photo. (Feb 2003)

Lest anyone consider Daze Reader's naked war coverage biased after all the links to naked war protesters, check out these naked British soldiers in Iraq. (Apr 2003)

MORE NAKED PROTESTS

Hollins University, a women-only institution in Virginia, has dropped indecent exposure charges against two students arrested during campus protest demonstration earlier in the week. The protesters demanded more diversity among students and faculty, more money for student-centered services, more power for students in campus affairs, and a commitment that Hollins will "never admit men as undergraduate students." Three students protested naked, except for red paint on their bodies and scarves in their hair, and two were arrested. (May 2001)

Fifty demonstrators from the Booby Liberation Organization gathered on the Massachusetts state House on Friday. The group was protesting discrimination in indecent exposure laws which allow men to go topless in public but deny women that right. Three bare-breasted women were arrested for indecent exposure.
