Cynthia Plaster Caster

Cynthia Plaster Caster, nee Cynthia Albritton, is probably the most famous groupie in rock history. As an art student at the University of Illinois, she experimented with making plaster casts of erect penises. In the late 1960s, she began making casts of rock stars' penises, initially as a way "to stand out from other groupies" or, more bluntly, "to get laid." Jimi Hendrix modeled for her most well-known casting. Her technique uses a type of plaster called algenates, used mostly in dental molding. After years of legal wrangling with a once-trusted associate, Cynthia Plaster Caster recently reacquired many of her early moldings. She's also the subject of a documentary entitled Plaster Caster slated for release in 2001.
