Homosexuality legalized in India
Great news for sexual freedom and human rights in India: the Delhi High Court has overturned India's law banning gay sex, first established by the British colonial government in 1861.
A bench of Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice S Muralidhar said that if not amended, section 377 of the IPC would violate Article 21 of the Indian constitution, which states that every citizen has equal opportunity of life and is equal before law.
There was much rejoicing in response to the ruling.
Gay rights activists hailed the court verdict as historic and many supporters of homosexuality were seen celebrating with sweets and smearing each other with vermilion.
Let's all express solidarity with our Indian brothers and sisters by smearing each other with vermilion today.
