Super Bowl streaker
More Super Bowl halftime nudity! A streaker ran onto the field just before the second half began. And not just any streaker, but legendary British streaker Mark Roberts, who announced his plans beforehand on his website. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports:
None of the pop stars could match the amusement provided by a man dressed as a referee who worked his way onto the field and stripped just as the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots lined up for the second-half kickoff.
After removing his clothes, the man stood in front of Carolina kicker John Kasay and started to perform something that vaguely resembled the Riverdance. At that point, he was wearing only a jockstrap and an official's cap. He also had a message written in black marker on his chest and back.
The man continued his dance for at least 20 seconds before security guards and Houston police started to close in. When the man tried to escape through the teeth of the Patriots' return team, backup linebacker Matt Chatham knocked him to the ground.
According to this press release from Roberts' corporate sponsor celebrating the successful streak, "the words 'Super Bowel' were written on his back along with the Internet casino's website address." Yahoo has a photo of the hogtied Roberts being carried off the field. There must be many photos of Roberts in mid-streak, but I haven't found any yet.
