"Welcome to the world of 'adult' advertising, or, to put it more plainly, sex ads: the classified and display ads for strip clubs, 'massage' parlors and spas, 'escorts,' phone-sex lines, 'domination' services, pornographic video and bookstores, 'model' agencies -- even 'erotic' bakeries. It's a newspaper advertising category that for decades has been owned lock, stock, and fur-lined handcuffs by alternative papers. But now increasing numbers of daily newspapers are coyly succumbing to the many seductions of sex ads."
